本仪器是一般是用标准器（如量块）以比较法测量工件的尺寸。主要用于对五等量块，量棒，钢球，线形及平行平面状精密量具和零件的外形尺寸作精密测量，本仪器头部亦可作为一个独立体，在科研，生产过程控制及在线测量等方面，对被测件作微小位移测量，及对非金属如：薄膜、纸张等的厚度测量。
The optimeter is widely used to precisely measure external
size of workpiece by comparison with a gauge block or
standard part. It is applicable for examining 5-grade
gauge blocks, cylinder gauges and external sizes of
precision parts such as parallel planes, spheres
and cylinders.
